[Sora] IRB

Hi again!

So, I've received a lot of responses and questions, so I thought I would share the intel I received.

>From the responses I received, OHA's Public Health Division seems to be the only state agency IRB. Here is their website: https://www.oregon.gov/oha/PH/PROVIDERPARTNERRESOURCES/EVALUATIONRESEARCH/INSTITUTIONALREVIEWBOARD/Pages/irb.aspx

A few agencies said that they use the IRB at partnering educational institutions, which is what DPSST has done in the past. We are trying to stand up an IRB at DPSST with the hope that as public safety becomes more evidence-based we will be able to support research projects even in the absence of an academic partners (though academic partnerships are ideal).

For those of you that asked about our program here - I am the lone Research Analyst at DPSST and work in the Center for Policing Excellence. Our broad aim is to provide research support to public safety agencies in the implementation of evidence-based practices. Currently, that support comes in the form of teaching research and problem-solving basics to students that come through our academies and running the Oregon Knowledge Bank<okb.oregon.gov>.

If you want to know more or have some IRB resources, let me know!

Cheers,
Annie

Hello All,

Does the State of Oregon (or any State agencies) have an IRB for potential research they may do? I've been tasked with looking into this for any future research coming out of my agency and I thought this would be a good group to ask.

Cheers and stay well,
Annie
