SOCIAL MEDIA – How to Save YouTube Videos to Watch Later

Novice

[YouTube]

YouTube is rapidly becoming a source of helpful information, in addition to providing entertainment. You can view segments of news programs, get home workout routines, and watch a huge array of podcasts or cooking shows.

There are times when you run across a video that you want to keep to watch later (or rewatch), right? Maybe the video is long, and you don't have enough time to view it right then, or you love the content and want to see it on a regular basis (like an exercise class).

Yes, you can hit the "Subscribe" button to follow a channel that consistently offers material that you value. This is a great option to make sure new content is in your feed. It also helps you to "curate" the content that YouTube is showing you on a regular basis by telling the algorithms what you like. However, the problem is that the YouTube channel creator may be adding new videos all the time, pushing the previous ones out of sight.

You could create your own "library" by copying links into a document and storing the URL for the video there, but that's extra unnecessary work.

There's a better way! Let's take a look at how to SAVE a video in your YouTube account – and organize them into Playlists, like your own little video library!

Create Your Own "Watch Later" List

[watch later]

When you're logged into your YouTube (Google) account, you can SAVE a video so that you don't have to search for it later. Better yet, if you use this feature a lot, you can create your own private Playlists so that your saved videos are easier to find.

Of course, like many tools, there is more than one way to do something. Let's go through a few different ways.

NOTE: You need to be signed into your YouTube (Google) account to save items. You'll know if you’re signed in if, when you go to YouTube.com, you see your picture icon in the upper right corner of the window. If not, click the Sign In button and follow the prompts.

Save Videos on a Computer

If you find a video that you want to Save on your computer...

· When you are watching the video, click the "More" option (three dots) and choose Save.

[save video]

· Then check the Watch later box.

· Or, you can save it to a Playlist by checking the box next to the Playlist title (or click the Plus sign next to Create new playlist and give it a title).

[watch later]
· If the video appears in the side panel or while you are browsing, hover over the thumbnail view and click the icon in the upper right corner that looks like a clock to Watch Later.

How to Watch Your Saved Videos Later

When you're ready to watch any of the videos later that you have added to the Saved list or put in a Playlist, you can find them in a few different ways.

To find your Saved videos:

· Click on the YouTube icon in the upper left corner to return to your Home page.

· Here, in the left column, click on the Watch later link or any Playlists under it.

[watch video]

· In your saved videos, you can sort them by dragging and dropping them in a different order.

· Or, when you mouse over a video you'll see a More menu (vertical dots) with options to Remove from the list, Add to a Playlist, Share, and more.

To view videos in the Playlists that you created:

· From your YouTube Home page, click on the name of the Playlist in the left menu if it is displayed (if you have several, they may not all be showing).

· Or, click on the Your channel link, then Playlists from the menu to find the videos organized in your Playlists.

[view playlist]

How to Save Videos on a Mobile Device

[save video]
· When you are watching a video, tap the Save option and choose to either Watch later or Save to playlist.

· When you are browsing in a list view, tap the More options link (3 vertical dots).

[Save on mobile]
· Then choose to Save to Watch later or Save to playlist.

[save for later]

· To find the videos later, tap on the "You" icon in the bottom right corner of the menu. Here you’ll find your saved videos and Playlists.

Communications: Talking

Subtly Switching to the Positive

There are always times when we are in a challenging situation and feel the need to speak out. Often that ends up landing on the negative side ... even when we're trying to be positive.

There is a way to think ahead and choose words that more effectively support the "up" side.

Here are some examples of good statements (but with negative words subtly taking hold) and even better statements, when choosing a more positive position.

EXAMPLES:

NOT: "I'm sorry you had to wait so long."

YES, say: "Thank you for being so patient."

NOT: "I would hate to see you experience a problem like this again."

YES, say: "I am confident this situation will not arise again."

Read the two "Not" statements to yourself. Then the two "Yes" sentences. See how switching to positive can make you, and others, feel uplifted?
