PPT / Google Slides - Create an Image from a Slide
Intermediate
Have you ever created a slide and wished you could have it as an image? For example, a page in your presentation has a powerful picture with text overlay that you want to use in another way – like on a website or a social media post.
Or, you've uploaded a video to YouTube and want to use a slide as the thumbnail (display) image. Well, did you know that the size of a slide (widescreen) is 1280 x 720 pixels (or a 16:9 ratio) which is exactly the recommended image size for YouTube? You don't need to crop or re-size the image, it's a perfect size already!
In fact, we use this technique of converting a slide into an image every week to create the cover graphic for our Tech-Talk videos!
EXAMPLE: Here is a PPT slide saved as a jpg graphic!
The secret to creating an image from a PowerPoint... slide? All you have to do is SAVE it ... in the JPG or PNG format. That's what makes that slide an image. Now you can use it just as you would any graphic.
How To Convert A PowerPoint Slide to an Image
The process of converting the PowerPoint to a JPEG or PNG is very simple: change the format when you are saving the document.
· Open the PowerPoint presentation.
· Click on the slide you want as a graphic.
· Choose File, then Save As.
· In the Save As Type area where it shows PowerPoint Presentation (.pptx), use the drop-down window to select .jpg file Interchange format (or .png or .gif).
[save ppt as image]
IMPORTANT LAST STEP:
· You'll be asked if you want to convert ALL the files or just the current one. NOTE: If you choose ALL Slides, you'll get individual .jpg files for each slide.
· To save only the one selected choose Just This One.
[save image]
Now you can use the image(s) as needed.
Save a Slide as an Image in Google Slides
You can also save a slide in Google as an image as well.
· Select the slide to convert to an image from the list of slides at the left side of the window.
· Go to File and select Download.
· Now choose either the JPEG or PNG image type.
· You'll be prompted to give the image a name and select the file location.

Communications: Talking
In Conflict, Support First
Think back to a recent conflict you had with someone. Did you find yourself thinking about how you were going to counter what was said … instead of being supportive first?
Whether you are ready to challenge or react in a conflict situation, consider taking a breath and find a way to make a supportive statement of any kind. This shows that you're listening and "disarms" the other individual because they are expecting a counter-move.
A supportive statement doesn’t have to be a big deal (see the examples below). But by not offering this kind of endorsement (because you think it's obvious … or because you think it won't matter) you have a missed opportunity.
Even when you disagree with what was said, acknowledge the fact that you've heard the statement first, before launching into how you differ. This approach will make your conversations more productive.
Examples of supportive statements, even when you disagree.
· "I hear you."
· "Well, that's an idea."
· "You bring up a good point."
· Or repeat what you've heard. That is supportive too!
