[Accounts-receivable-news] Draft of LC 775 - Centralization of Collections

Good afternoon.

SWARM wanted to share the draft of LC 775 for your review.  This is a proposal being carried by DAS and was developed in partnership with the Department of Revenue Other Agency Accounts (DOR-OAA).  This LC modifies ORS 293.231 and ORS 293.250 so that at the time of assignment agencies (those subject to ORS 293) would assign their accounts to DOR-OAA.  It becomes the responsibility of DOR-OAA to collect the account, including the use of private collection firms (PCF).   There are other statutes under LC 775 that have modification due to the changes made in ORS 293.231 and ORS 293.250.

Please reply with any comments you have regarding this LC, SWARM is interested in knowing your thoughts about this concept and the impacts to your agency.

Please note that this LC has been submitted and is still in consideration for the 2017 session, however leadership can still decide to pull legislative concepts up until mid-December.  So there is no guarantee at this time that this LC will actually become a bill during the 2017 session.  If SWARM learns that the LC is NOT going to be presented we will certainly let everyone know.
