I really like conferences that make attendee lists available, BUT it's important to make that clear up front and offer an opportunity to opt out on the registration form.  Useful for those moments when you're looking at your notes and remember that the person sitting next to you who was from Random Community College had a really good point -- but maybe you can't remember the name offhand, or only recall part of the name.
Which is a long way of saying: We should consider this next year!

I don’t think that it is appropriate for us to give out any information on attendees, even to another attendee.

If they want to put names to faces…that’s what the nametags at the event were for. And I don’t see how a list of names, institutions and email address helps with that.

My gut reaction is to not share a list of names since attendees don't get a say as to whether they want their names shared or not.
