Hi All,
This is a message specifically for those with Administrator accounts for their Answerland queues. (Otherwise, you can disregard!)
You all should have received the message below from Springshare about a new multi-factor authentication requirement for these accounts. You have until July to set this up and if you do not, you will be prompted to do so when you log-in starting in July.
Please let me know if you have questions!
Thanks,
Gesse Stark-Smith, MIS (she/her)

Subject: Important: Springshare Requires MFA on Admin Level Accounts Starting July 2025
MFA Required on Admin Accounts
Hello Gesse,
As mentioned in our recent blog post<https://blog.springshare.com/2025/04/get-on-board-with-multi-factor-authentication> about Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) in LibApps, we will require an active MFA setup for LibApps username / password logins starting in July 2025 for Admin-level accounts. You are receiving this email because you are an Admin level user in at least one of the following apps, so this notification applies to you: LibApps, LibGuides, LibAnswers, LibCal, LibStaffer, LibInsight, LibConnect, or LibWizard.
If you are using LibAuth to log in via your SSO, you may skip to the section titled "How does this work if we use LibAuth to log in through our SSO?"
If you have already set up MFA for your account, we thank you for doing so. Please feel free to stop reading or continue on to see how this change may affect any colleagues who are Admin level users and have not yet set up MFA.

Timeline
* July 2025 release - All accounts that have Admin level access in any LibApps app are required to have MFA
* By the end of 2025 - All accounts are required to have MFA
While we don't have exact July release dates to share with you right now, we always announce our releases on our blog<https://blog.springshare.com/> and post Release Notes<https://lounge.springshare.com/categories/release-notes> for each app in the Lounge. If you haven't already, register for email notifications:

How does this affect me?
You can set MFA up on your account<https://ask.springshare.com/libapps/faq/3585> at any time. If you can't before our July 2025 release, the next time you log into your system you will be required to set up MFA before you can continue to the admin side of your system. Read our documentation to see what this looks like.<https://ask.springshare.com/libapps/faq/3585#login-activate>
You can choose to either use an authenticator app (e.g., Google, Microsoft, LastPass, Duo, Authy, etc.) or get a code via email when configuring MFA for your account. Our blog post<https://blog.springshare.com/2025/04/get-on-board-with-multi-factor-authentication> has an animation showing how each one works or you can read a description / see that animation in our documentation<https://ask.springshare.com/libapps/faq/3585>. We advise that you opt for the authenticator app, because it is more secure and can speed up your login process.
Management of MFA resides at the local customer level. If an account holder needs to remove their MFA for any reason, such as changing devices where the MFA setup is not transferred, they must ask a LibApps Admin<https://ask.springshare.com/libapps/faq/629> at their institution to remove the MFA on their account so they can create a new setup.
Please make sure you have more than one LibApps Admin at your institution to ensure you can process these requests.

How does this work if we use LibAuth to log in through our SSO?
Your LibApps system may require users to sign into LibApps with your SSO<https://ask.springshare.com/libapps/faq/2595> via LibAuth, or it might display both the LibApps and SSO login options<https://ask.springshare.com/libapps/faq/2577>. MFA for the LibApps login does not affect users who sign in via your SSO. Instead, you will follow the authentication requirements set by your SSO:
* If your SSO requires MFA, then you'll do the MFA through your SSO.
* If your SSO does not require MFA, you will not need to do MFA at all.
That said, even if your team normally signs in via SSO, we recommend that at least some Admin users set up MFA for the LibApps login as a backup in case of a service disruption for your SSO.

Can we require our account holders to use MFA now instead of waiting?
Absolutely! Adding MFA to further secure all accounts is a great step to take, and one that we will require by the end of 2025.
Learn how to require users to sign into LibApps using MFA.<https://ask.springshare.com/libapps/faq/3467#require-mfa>

Thank you for your time and attention to adding MFA to your account. If you have any questions, please let us know<https://ask.springshare.com/ask>.
As always, thanks for being on board!
