Greetings Fellow ASIST Trainers~

We're just about six weeks away from the 2018 Oregon & SW Washington 
ASIST Trainers Regional Conference!  It promises to be filled with 
opportunities for growth, new learning and connecting with old & new 
friends.  Mark you calendars for October 9-10, 2018.

One of the highlights of the conference will be hearing the ASIST 11.1 
updates directly from Renee Schmidt, Program Design & Development 
Coordinator with LivingWorks Education.  We will have an opportunity to 
see the new videos, "Cause of Death?" and "It Begins With You" together 
and Renee will help walk us through the changes as we prepare for our 
next ASIST workshops.  There will be plenty of opportunity for questions 
and clarifications to help make this a smooth and seamless transition.

Other updates to ASIST 11.1 include:

~Shifting from the language of "Risk" to "The Focus On Safety"
~Use of Population Specific Data
~Self-Injurious Behavior and the Use of the PAL Model
~Clarity Around Section 5.2.  "Trainers have a love-hate relationship 
with 5.2. Some have abandoned it altogether, while others have replaced 
it with various and interesting non-standard things that may or may not 
meet the purpose and goals. Step 5.2 is as important to the integrity of 
the workshop as is 2.4 and 4.2. Before your next workshop review 5.2 and 
be determined to make this short, elegant task one of your best workshop 
deliverables."
