BOLI Employment Law Conference will help employers navigate workplace rules
Compliance experts will join top employment law attorneys to focus on new protections, requirements

Portland, OR-The Bureau of Labor and Industries will hold its 34th Annual Employment Law Conference on November 1st and 2nd at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, the agency announced today.

The state's premier employer training event will feature 29 sessions on frequently requested topics such as workplace harassment, I-9 compliance, social media issues and Oregon leave laws. Presenters will also cover case law updates and new laws for the workplace such as Oregon's new pay equity and predictive scheduling requirements.

"Each year, we organize the Employment Law Conference around the topics businesses most frequently ask about during the year as employers look to stay up-to-date and compliant," said Dylan Morgan, manager of the Technical Assistance for Employers Program. "The conference offers an opportunity for employers of all sizes to hear from both public and private sector experts in fields highly relevant to Oregon's changing regulatory landscape."

The conference agenda<https://www.oregon.gov/boli/TA/docs/2018%20Annual%20Conference/2018PreliminaryConfSchedule.pdf> and registration information can be found on BOLI's website. Attendance at the Employment Law Conference has seen a steady increase in recent years, so organizers encourage potential attendees to make reservations early<https://events.egov.com/eventreg/OR/registrant.htm?action=new&_event=bolis34thannualemploymentlawconference> to confirm their spot.

The full conference is available for $549 per attendee, with one-day conference passes also available for $399 per person. Interested employers can also email the agency at bolita at boli.state.or.us<mailto:bolita at boli.state.or.us> or call (971) 673-0824 for more information to register.

"The Employment Law Conference is another way that the Technical Assistance for Employers program helps keep Oregon businesses ahead of the curve," said Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian. "Many employers return to the conference year after year because the quality and scope of presentations help organizations manage risk and stay successful."
