The following December CAPP meeting minutes were approved at the January

Pauline Martel facilitated the meeting. Participants self introduced.
The November 18, 2009 meeting minutes were approved with corrections.
Treasurer*s Report: Dede Henderson, CAPP Treasurer, reports that the
CAPP balance is $9,845.88. Dede is in the process of changing the CAPP
members authorized to sign CAPP checks. Dede will use the September
16th CAPP meeting minutes as CAPP approval for the changes.
Leadership Roles are now filled.
CAPP DVD * Aubrey Laverty and Diane Pietrzak presented a draft DVD for
use by CAPP members when presenting to groups. The group suggested that
the slides be shown for a longer period of time to allow the speaker to
read the text. Aubrey will work on making the changes. (We learned
after the meeting that it is not possible to email the slide show
because the file is too large to go through email systems.)
April, 2010 Business After Hours: The Chamber of Commerce Business
After Hours April Event is not available. Greg Henderson and Elizabeth
Droscher suggested that we hold the Rotary/CAPP Event in April at
Phoenix School and send notice of it through the Chamber newsletter.
Everything will basically be done the same as last year, but it will be
a stand alone event rather than *After Hours.* All present agreed.
Greg and Elizabeth will work on setting a date and bring it back to the
group.
2010 Duck Race Calendar: Greg Henderson provided the group with the
corporate sponsor committee schedule for the 2010 Duck Race. Race Day
is August 28th. The 2010 goal is to raise $100,000. Corporate
sponsorships will be available for $300.
CAPP April Calendar: Elizabeth is starting work on the calendar for
Child Abuse Prevention Month activities. She needs the specifics on all
events by February so that the calendar can be distributed before school
spring break.
Mercy Foundation Mobile Medical Van will be invited to participate in
this year*s Wildlife Safari event.
Angela Collar, BPA, offers to help in any activities so please let her
know when a need presents itself.
Greg Henderson announced that May 8th is Family Safety Day. CAPP will
have a table at the event.
Pauline Martel announced that Adapt has been awarded $14,500 for 3
consecutive years to provide training in assisting and responding to
prevent suicide. Adapt will be working with Phoenix, Days Creek, and
South Umpqua schools.
Pauline Martel also announced that a Girls Summit was held on December
4th at Boys & Girls Club. Pauline is applying to AAUW for a grant for a
girls after school program at Days Creek and Coffenberry.
Diane Pietrzak announced that Marilyn Carter applied for an ACHIEVE
grant on behalf of Douglas County Health Department.
Melody Ross announced that the Boys & Girls Club now has 350 kids
participating! Congressman Peter DeFazio nominated the Boys & Girls
Club as the Nike beneficiary of the Nike gift for winning the tennis
shoe challenge. People are excited to see what Nike will send.
Elizabeth Droscher agreed to chair the January meeting.
The meeting was formally adjourned and we enjoyed holiday goodies.
Thanks to all who shared in the fun!
