Hello District 5 Self-Sufficiency/Child Welfare Staff and Community Partners,

Tuesday Tidbits are short, specific info bites you can use and share to increase collective knowledge of Lane County's wide-ranging community resource landscape.   Below you will find Mental and Physical Health resources being offered in and for our local community.

[cid:image004.jpg at 01DB0915.6C20E560]Peers.net is a new peer support telehealth service that provides youth and young adults (ages 12-30) access to 1 on 1 peer support with a professional peer supporter (ages 18-35) of their choice. They address health equity and give consumers choice by increasing
the numbers of diverse providers, incl LGBTQ+ and BIPOC. Over half of thier providers identify as LGBTQ+ and/or BIPOC. They currently only have a contract with PacificSource, but please feel free to refer all youth that you think would be interested in peer support with Peers.net. They will help make sure youth can access services at either no or low cost!
If there are any youth that come across your radar that you want to start referring now, you can do so as soon as today by either:
1. Sending an email referral to referrals at peers.net<mailto:referrals at peers.net>
2. Submitting a referral directly: https://share.peers.net/referralform.
3. Sharing the attached customized flyer with youth

OHA has approached Monte Nido to provide a one-hour webinar in Spanish on understanding eating disorders: causes, symptoms and treatment. It will be run by Anna Carolina Bendeck, LMHC, the Assistant Clinical Director at Monte Nido. Please spread the word within your Spanish-speaking community.

[cid:image018.jpg at 01DB0915.6C20E560]On March 9, 2024, the President of the U.S. signed the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2024 into law. This law allows citizens of the Compact of Free Association (COFA) countries to be eligible for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) benefits. Citizens of COFA countries eligible for TANF are also now eligible for Temporary Assistance for Domestic Violence Survivors (TA-DVS).
SNAP, TANF, and TA-DVS now align with other Oregon programs that allow citizens of COFA countries to receive benefits, including:

  *   Employment Related Day Care (ERDC), which expanded eligibility to all children eligible for care regardless of their immigration status on May 1, 2024.
  *   Medical programs.
The countries included in the COFA treaties are: • The Federated States of Micronesia • The Republic of the Marshall Islands • The Republic of Palau
