Each episode, we'll learn about the challenges and surprises of doing historical research, and try to learn how one source can change history.

How did Black Portland fight against Apartheid in South Africa? Host Mariah Rocker welcomes our first History Investigator for 2025, historian, scholar, author and teacher, Dr. Carmen P. Thompson. Dr. Thompson’s research explores the remarkable success of Portland's Anti-Apartheid Movement of the 1980s which included activists, organizers and everyday citizens.

Join Fossil Free Eugene to get supplies and information on energy efficiency and weatherproofing your home as a renter.

The workshop will include presentations from Beyond Toxics, Springfield Eugene Tenants Association, Fossil Free Eugene, BRING, Nonprofit Home Inspectors, and Homes for Good.

Food and $50 stipends will be provided! This workshop is tailored to young renters but open to everyone.

Immigrants Rising’s Wellness Support Groups help undocumented people stay grounded and connected to the community. Navigating life in the U.S. can be difficult when holding intersecting identities of being an LGBTQIA+ person of color who’s also undocumented. The UndocuLGBTQ+ Support Group is open to all individuals who are LGBTQIA+ seeking a safe space. Regardless of how you explore and express your LGBTQIA+ identity, this support group is created so you can show up as your authentic self and share personal experiences, discuss relevant issues, and build community in a safe and non-judgmental environment with other undocumented LGBTQIA+ individuals. In the spirit of community, participants will determine what themes will be discussed over the six weeks.

Outliers and Outlaws<https://blogs.uoregon.edu/outliersandoutlawsdocumentary/> is a documentary film from The Eugene Lesbian History Project<https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1634>. The hundreds of lesbians who migrated to Eugene, Oregon from the 1960’s-80’s agreed on one thing: everything was going to be different.

A FREE University of Oregon screening on Sunday Feb 2nd in Straub Hall that includes filmmakers and participants. No tickets necessary. Filmmakers and participants will be on hand for a Q&A after the screening.

WHEN: Now! Program began January 1st, 2025. Drop off mattresses Monday – Friday, 8am – 4pm.
WHERE: St. Vincent de Paul recycling facility at 1770 Prairie Road, Eugene

Starting January 1st 2025, St. Vincent de Paul Lane County will be accepting mattresses from the general public for recycling!

Community members can bring us their mattresses for recycling free of charge Monday - Friday 8am-4pm.

Homes for good is changing the process of how we handle our Housing Specialists role. We will be moving away from an assigned Housing Specialist to a collaborative approach. This new change is now effective.

This change will increase customer service and response time. By having a team-based approach, there will always be someone available to assist you, reducing wait times compared to relying on a single Housing Specialist.

The Shelter Finder can be found via the Lane County Shelter Finder website<http://www.lanecountyor.gov/shelter> or Lane County Housing Help website<http://www.lanecountyor.gov/housinghelp>.

This website is intended to help those in our community seeking shelter either for themselves, or for someone else, know what shelters have beds available on a given night and what criteria there are for accessing those shelters.

Those accessing the site can filter through the shelters based on unique needs and be pointed in the direction of those shelters that best meet those needs. Additionally, by clicking on the bed icons located on the embedded map, site visitors can see information about the shelters including pictures, intake information, what they can expect when accessing and other important details.
