Springfield Public Schools is now accepting applications for outstanding candidates for the position of school bus driver to work split shifts for hours of M-F 6:00am to 9:00am (approximately) and 1:30pm to 4:30pm (approximately).  Candidates who have a current drivers license and don’t have a CDL will have the opportunity to be trained and obtain a CDL.
Successful candidates will possess the following:

  *   Required licenses and certificates OR the ability to obtain them within District time frames.  These include:
 1.  Valid State of Oregon Commercial Drivers License (CDL) *
 2.  Medical Examiner's Certificate
 3.  Oregon Department of Education (ODE) Pupil Transportation Certificate

[Lane Community College - Wikipedia]The STEP Program at Lane Community College offers many trainings!
If currently receiving SNAP and participating in the STEP Program, these trainings are available through the STEP program!

STEP at Lane/Career Pathways Eligible Training List

  1.  Certificates must be prioritized to remain eligible for STEP, even if the student is also pursuing other programs.

  1.  Before students are officially enrolled in STEP, they must submit a Term-by-Term Planner that reflects the projected completion of their short-term certificate.

  1.  Full-time students: Short certificates are mapped to completion in 1 year or less.

  1.  Part-time students: Should only take Career Pathway Certificate (CPC) courses, but can take longer than a year.

  1.  Most CPCs are embedded within a larger certificate; enrolled students will work with their Coach to determine, confirm & plan next steps upon completion of the first certificate.

  1.  Participants should maintain realistic expectations regarding support. The STEP at Lane program is not financial aid, but it offers financial assistance specifically for the credits that apply to the certificate. Currently, STEP also covers most required textbooks and mandatory fees. Before enrolling, students must have a clear plan to cover any remaining tuition/fee balances (ie. FAFSA!). This can be challenging for students with prior degrees.
