JANUARY:

Semper Fi & America's Fund is offering financial assistance with entry into new housing (currently homeless - in need of first month's rent and/or deposit) or eviction prevention (notice of eviction/pay or quit notice is required to be eligible). There is also potential to assist with past evections debts on a case-by-case basis. The program is available for veterans of any era and is available nationwide. The veteran must have a minimum of 180 days of service and a DD214 or NGB22.

Semper Fi & America's Fund's Initiative Outreach Lead, John Hinkle, is holding two online information sessions, providing an overview of the program and then spending as much time as needed answering questions.

The purpose of the Share Fair is to connect people with resources, services, and each other in a convenient and fun way. The fair will be providing free resources and services from local organizations and community groups to unhoused and working class members of the community. There will be food, live music, games, and a chance to know other Eugene organizations and folks in the community - and it's all free!

FEBRUARY:

Community members are invited to Bridge Lane, a free career and resource fair designed to help individuals and families take a step toward a more stable future. Bridge Lane brings together local hiring employers, training and education providers, and community resource organizations in one welcoming, low-pressure space. Attendees can explore job opportunities, learn about training programs, and connect with providers offering support for childcare, housing food, transportation, healthcare, technology, veteran, and reentry services.

The event is family friendly, with activities for children, free snacks, and on-site support to reduce common barriers to participation. Free bus rides will be provided via LTD and accessible, abundant, and free parking is available on site. We understand there are a lot of barriers to housing in our community, but we believe that everyone should have a place to call home. Our program wants to help you overcome barriers to housing. If you've ever been evicted, you know that many landlords may not consider renting to you or anyone with unstable rental history.

Second Chace is a series of 11 powerful and informative classes taught by St. Vincent de Paul staff and local community experts. The series' unique approach helps participants build self-esteem, learn their rights and overcome barriers to housing in their personal lives and in our community.

Second Chance covers:

  *   Mental health awareness
  *   Conflict resolution for neighborhood and landlord disputes
  *   Taking control of energy usage and household maintenance
  *   Financial literacy and household finance
  *   Tenant Rights as outlined by Oregon landlord-tenant and fair-housing laws

When temperatures drop, keeping warm and safe becomes even more important. Lance County offers a growing list of Warming Spaces where community members can warm up during the day. These include local public buildings and participating businesses that welcome those who need a warm place, especially if home heating is limited.

Some locations may also activate as Warming Shelters when temperatures reach certain thresholds. These sites can open overnight to provide additional support.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace provides free beds to children in need. The organization provides the frame, mattress, sheets, pillow, and comforter, in twin size only.

The third-party waitlists are always open! Quantum manages many different properties in partnership for Homes for Good. Some properties offer units where the rent amount is based on your income, while others offer units at a fixed, reduced rate that is lower than the current market rent. For information about the vacancies at these properties, call the apartment managers directly.

The mission of the Mobile Pantry is to bring more food to high-need places in Lance County. Through this pop-up style market, we distribute a variety of pantry staples, proteins, dairy items and fresh produce. A typical visit to the Mobile Pantry will provide a household with a three-to-five day supply of nutritionally balanced groceries. Habitat for humanity of Central Lane will open pre-applications for a two bedroom, one bath tandem home at Fischer Village in Springfield. Pre-applications will be available on January 12th at that time you will be able to download them on our website<https://habitatlane.org/>. If you would like to pick one up at the Habitat office, please call to make an appointment at (541) 741-1707, or when the ReStore is open (Wednesday - Saturday, 11am - 6pm and Sunday, 11am - 4pm). The applications will be available up front in the cashiers area (1210 Oak Patch Rd, Eugene OR 97402).
