It is almost time for Summer Food here at Food for Lane County! The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) is a USDA Federal program that sets standards and provides reimbursement for healthy meals and snacks served to eligible children. The SFSP plays an integral role in giving eligible children and teens access to meals when school is not in session.

H.O.N.E.Y. Inc. is excited to offer a Multicultural Enrichment Academy over summer break for elementary (1st–5th), middle, and high school youth and teens.
This program is designed to center youth who identify as multiracial and ethnically diverse, while all are welcome and encouraged to attend. It is a meaningful opportunity for multiracial, African American/Black, Native, Latine, and Immigrant/Refugee youth to come together, build connection, and experience being in the majority.
This opportunity is not for everyone and requires youth to sign a participation agreement. The academy is intentionally designed to be a fun, engaging, and rigorous experience where youth will:

  *   Build academic, life, and leadership skills
  *   Engage in cultural enrichment and creative activities
  *   Connect with peers in an affirming and empowering environment

UO SAIL PROGRAM
This FREE, week‑long pre‑college program, held on the University of Oregon campus, gives students the opportunity to experience college life while engaging in hands‑on, interactive learning with UO’s outstanding faculty. SAIL is open to Oregon high school students from low‑income backgrounds, and our goal is to inspire students to pursue, enroll in, and succeed in higher education.
Program Options
This summer, students may choose between two program formats:
Residential Program
· July 12–17
· Open to rising juniors and seniors
· Students arrive Sunday afternoon and are picked up Friday by 4:30 p.m.
· Students live and eat on campus, staying in UO residence halls
· Evening activities may include music and dance, community‑building events, campus exploration, and career networking with local professionals
Day Program
· July 20–24
· Open to rising freshmen through rising seniors
· Runs Monday–Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
· Lunch and snacks provided daily
In both programs, students will explore a variety of academic subjects through fun, social, and engaging activities led by distinguished UO faculty.

Tom Keating, founder of Cognitopia, will share practical, research-based strategies to support independence, self-determination, and executive functioning for neurodivergent individuals. In this interactive session, parents will learn how Cognitopia’s web-based tools can help students actively participate in IEP meetings, manage daily routines, and prepare for emergencies.

Following the presentation, autism consultant Toby Rickard (Eugene School District 4J) will interview local self-advocate Ryan DeWitt-Todd, who will offer a firsthand perspective on using Cognitopia in everyday life—providing meaningful insight and inspiration for both parents and students.

Children will enjoy a fun-filled day of games, crafts, and social time in a safe, welcoming environment supported by trained staff. Meanwhile, parents and caregivers can step away for a few hours—relaxing, running errands, or enjoying some well-deserved time to themselves.

This program is open to children ages 5–13 who experience a disability, mental health, or behavioral health concern. Siblings within the same age range are also welcome, even if they do not have a disability. Families must live in Lane County but do not need to be members of The Arc Lane County to participate.

Beginning May 1, Lane County Behavioral Health (LCBH) will take on youth mobile crisis and stabilization services, continuing this critical support for youth and families across Lane County.

This transition ensures that life-saving crisis response services remain available seven days a week through the Mobile Crisis Services of Lane County program. LCBH brings more than 50 years of experience serving children and adolescents and is prepared to expand services to meet community needs.

Starting in May, services will be available daily from 6 AM to 11 PM, with plans to expand to 24-hour coverage as additional staff are hired.

This group is specifically for foster, adoptive, and guardianship caregivers/parents who have had a child leave their home—or who have experienced other types of loss or estrangement from children. For example: a child is living with biological family or in a different foster home, they ran away, they are in a residential treatment center or other institution, or an adult child has become estranged. This is a welcoming space to listen and talk about our feelings, how we are coping and taking care of ourselves etc. When joining the virtual session, please try to be in a private space (or use headphones) so that others nearby cannot hear the group conversation.
