I am always looking to pass along helpful information to my customers
and here is one item I think you will find very useful.
Some of you may or may not know about the below format, which I use for
all my financial data. The following number format is a great
professional looking financial format and I believe we all should have
access to it; however, it is not a standard format in Hyperion.
#,##0.00 ;(#,##0.00)
Standard Hyperion format example: -4853.4 or 96874.1
Improved Hyperion financial format example: (4,853.40) or 96,874.10
If you are willing to follow the instructions below, you will have this
format set in your Hyperion application as the default and you will not
have to worry about changing the number format each time you access
Hyperion. This should save a lot of time and headache.
Instructions:
* Open Hyperion Interactive Reporting Studio,
* Click 'cancel' to close the welcome pop up window,
* Go to the 'Tools' menu, 'Options', select 'Default Formats',
* Click on the 'Numbers' tab, find the 'Real:' number format
drop down menu, select the "#,##0.00 ;(#,##0.00)" format.
o If "#,##0.00 ;(#,##0.00)" is not an option within the drop down
menu, it must be added.
o To add the new format, select the 'Custom' format button at the
bottom of the numbers tab within the 'Default Fonts and Styles' pop up
window.
o Manually type in the above format and select ok.
o Once the format is updated, you may then select it from the 'Real:'
drop down menu.
* Once complete, select 'ok' to close the 'Default Fonts and
Styles' pop up window.
Hope this helps,
