[Domestic Violence issues]

A great opportunity:

For those of you who are running enthusiasts, enjoy a nice walk outside,
or just like to show support for a good cause, the Marion County Domestic Violence Council is sponsoring its 6th Annual Domestic Violence Walk/Run event.

The event is a 5k walk/run or 10k run (this is approximately 3.1 or 6.2 miles) and will be held the morning of October 13, 2012 at Minto Brown Park.  The event begins at 9:00am.  Early registration (before October 1st) is only $15 for individuals or $50 for teams of 4.  After October 1st, registration is $20 for individuals or $70 for teams of 4.

The purpose of the event is to promote awareness about domestic violence and to raise money for survivors of abuse within our community. Fifty percent of the proceeds from the event will go toward supporting
Mid-Valley Women's Crisis Service and the work they do for survivors of abuse.  The other fifty percent is used to help fund next year's event as well as other awareness activities in the community.

You can also register at Gallagher Fitness Resources at 135 Commercial St. NE in Salem or at the event on the day of the race between 7:30 and 8:45 am.
