In the interest of always offering trauma informed responses, please see the below message from the National Mass Violence and Victimization Resource Center on some response to tips to this week's events in Washington DC. Please feel free to pass this information and the tip sheet along to other colleagues, agencies, community partners, or anyone else that may find this information helpful.

Dear Friends:

The horrific and terrifying events that occurred on January 6, 2021 at the U.S. Capitol were traumatizing for our Nation' leaders and their staff, and very distressing to all Americans who witnessed the mayhem through the news media and social media. Recognizing the devastating mental health impact of this terrible day, the National Mass Violence and Victimization Resource Center (NMVVRC) has developed "Twelve Self-help Tips for Coping in the Aftermath of the Attack on the U.S. Capitol," which can be accessed via our website at this link: http://nmvvrc.org/TipSheets/Self-Help%20Tip%20Sheet.pdf

The NMVVRC was established in 2017 through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice, Office for Victims of Crime. The mission of the Center is to improve community preparedness and the nation's capacity to serve victims recovering from mass violence through research, planning, training, technology, and collaboration.

We would appreciate your support in helping us disseminate this timely and helpful Tip Sheet. You can post a link to it on your website, and disseminate it to your organization's members and constituents. This will complement our Center's media and dissemination outreach, which we hope reaches the many victims and survivors for whom January 6 was a painful "trauma cue."

We appreciate your consideration of our request. If you have any questions or need additional information about "Twelve Self-help Tips for Coping in the Aftermath of the Attack on the U.S. Capitol," please contact Ryan Holman at 843-792-7018 or by email at holmanry at musc.edu<mailto:holmanry at musc.edu>.

Thank you very much.

Sincerely,
