 *   FY 2008 and FY 2007 Funding Status.  Wave 17 for FY 2008 will be released on Tuesday, August 5th.  Priority 2 funding is currently being approved at the 90% level and denied at 79% and below, but the SLD has recommended that the denial threshold be raised to 83% (and informally indicated that the final denial threshold may be 86% and below)).
Wave 59 for FY 2007 is scheduled for release on Wednesday, August 6th.

 *   Draft Eligible Services List for FY 2009 (and NPRM).  The FCC has released a draft version of next year’s ESL for public comment.  The draft itself contains only a few additional clarifications from the current version, but the FCC also initiated a Notice of Public Rulemaking to seek comments on more substantial eligibility changes (including a broader definition of “basic telephone service”).
 *   E-Rate Updates and Reminders.  The SLD’s fall training sessions in Washington, DC, and Chicago are oversubscribed; the other five sessions are also filling up.  The SLD is proposing to reduce the number of annual site visits and to conduct them all with internal SLD staff.
 *   Schools and Libraries News Brief for August 1st.  This week’s issue discusses non-recurring service deadlines and contracts.  It explains how a service delivery deadline may be extended, and how to use a Form 500 to advise the SLD that a contract expiration date has also been extended.
