See the attached newsletter for articles on:
* FY 2007 – FY 2008 Funding Status. Waves 40-41 for FY 2008 will be released March 3-4, 2009. The Priority 2 denial threshold has been raised one percentage point to 86%.
* Education Technology Funding and ARRA: The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 includes an additional $650 million for educational technology. This has no impact on E-rate, which remains the largest technology funding program for K-12 schools.
* E-Rate Updates and Reminders. Another year’s ADA exemption is included in the House’s Omnibus Appropriations Bill. Applicants receiving ominous e-mail solicitations from a company selling Internet safety and compliance packages should recognize that the FCC has not yet provided guidance on last year’s “Protecting Children in the 21st Century Act.” The FCC continues to receive requests to waive the Form 471 deadline for certain applicants.
* Schools and Libraries News Brief Dated February 27th. The SLD’s most recent News Brief reports the mailing of 600 “Notification of Form 471 with No Certification” letters.
