This is not the CIPA NPRM I had mentioned previously, but this is a very exciting development. The FCC is asking for comment on a number of subjects in relation to broadband implementation, technology literacy, and how the e-Rate Program can be modified to facilitate this process. They are asking for case studies, exemplars, and any other data or ideas on how to support broadband implementation across the country. They appear to be open to a wide range of solutions, so this is an excellent time to show them what your district or library is doing to increase broadband utilization or increase information literacy in your community. If you are a district struggling with the prohibitive costs of broadband implementation, then now is the time to tell your story, and let them know what your district needs to succeed in your efforts.
If you are interested in submitting comments, you will find the instructions for submitting them in the document. The timeline is tight; initial comments are due by the 20th, so if you plan to respond, you will need to work quickly.
