 *   Funding Status Update.   Funding Wave 44 for FY 2009 will be released this week. The SLD released preliminary demand estimates for FY 2010.
 *   CIPA Filtering: Federal vs. Local Control.  The State E-Rate Coordinators’ Alliance filed reply comments in the FCC’s current CIPA proceeding noting, with concern, a recent USAC audit decision indicating that a district’s failure to block access to social networking sites was a CIPA violation.  This decision appears to conflict with the CIPA’s local determination rules.
 *   E-Rate Updates and Reminders.  Comments on the FCC’s proposed rules to permit community usage of school Internet facilities are due April 5th.  A presentation of the FCC’s National Broadband Plan will be available online on March 16th.
 *   Schools and Libraries News Brief dated March 3 – No Cert Letters.  USAC mailed approximately 660 “Notifications of Form 471 With No Certification” letters last week.
