 *   Funding Status.  The released a preliminary estimate of demand for FY 2011 showing a 10% increase in funding requests over this year.  Wave 48 for FY 2010 for FY 2009 will be released this week.
 *   Vendor Equipment Loans and the E-Rate Gift Rules.  Hewlett-Packard has filed a request with the FCC to clarify, subject to suggested guidelines, that the loan of equipment to applicants for demonstration purposes does not violate the new E-rate gift rules.
 *   E-Rate Updates and Reminders.  Sprint has initiated an excellent new process to send quarterly summary E-rate billing information to its customers.  The FCC released another appeal decision addressing cases alleging that applicants had failed to consider price as the primary factor or failed to consider all bids.
Schools and Libraries News Brief dated April 22.  USAC will be sending out reminder letters this week to FY 2011 applicants who have not yet certified their Form 471s or may not have submitted required Item 21 attachments.
