My apologies for the tardiness of the newsletters. I have been unexpectedly out of the office for an extended period of time.

See the attached newsletter for articles on:

 * Funding Status. The first funding wave for FY 2011 should be released later this month. Wave 86 for FY 2009, but none for FY 2010, is scheduled for this week.
 * PIA questions on "Similar" Telephone Numbers. A number of applicants in small towns have started to receive PIA questions if the first eight digits of their telephone match those of local service providers.
 * CRN-Related Black Holes. Applicants across 17 states associated with an E-rate consultant in Iowa, originally owned by a woman who has pled guilty of fraud, are finding their applications for FY 2010 and FY 2011 on hold.
 * E-Rate Updates and Reminders. The FCC released three new appeal decisions. It will be interesting what the new federal Plain Writing Act does for E-rate regulations.
 * Schools and Libraries News Brief dated May 20. Last week's News Brief provides discusses non-regular funding waves and explains how to find information on them.
