  *   Funding Status.  The application window for FY 2012 opened January 9 and closes March 20, 2012.  Wave 37 for FY 2011 and Wave 88 for FY 2010 will be released this week.
  *   E-Rate Updates and Reminders.  The FCC continued its current focus on reducing the appeal backlog by releasing two new decisions affecting 34 applicants.  Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-ME), one of the key architects of the E-rate program, announced her retirement at the end of this term.
  *   Schools and Libraries News Brief Dated March 2  The SLD's latest News Brief reported that it had begun sending out "Form 470 But No Form 471" e-mails and letters to applicants representing almost 27,500 Form 470s for FY 2012.  These are somewhat confusing reminders that the application window closes March 20th, not that the deadline has been missed.
