The National Center is excited to announce an upcoming webinar on Building Collaboration Between Schools and Fatality Review teams, scheduled for August 24, 2021, at 2:00 pm EST. This presentation will provide[cid:image002.png at 01D78F83.57A3A870] an overview of collaboration opportunities between fatality review teams and schools. The presentation will provide an overview of FERPA and describe current collaborations between schools and fatality review. Additionally, written guidance on the topic will be released. The National Center for Fatality Review and Prevention is pleased to release a new guidance document on Reviews of deaths due to Congenital Disorders<https://www.ncfrp.org/wp-content/uploads/Report_Congenital_Disorders_Guidance.pdf>.  Congenital disorders, also known as birth defects, are a leading cause of infant mortality in the US, accounting for about 1 in 5 infant deaths annually. This resource explores data collection, diagnosis of congenital disorders, key questions to ask during the review meeting, common fatal conditions, and opportunities for prevention.

Effective review of fetal and infant deaths by fatality review teams can lead to an increased understanding of the causes, contributors, and factors placing parents and families at risk for the tragedy of a loss due to congenital disorders.
