New Quick-Look on Firearm Deaths


Colleagues,

We are pleased to share with you a new Quick-Look<https://ncfrp.org/center-resources/quick-looks/> on firearm fatalities<https://ncfrp.org/center-resources/quick-looks/firearms-quick-look/>. From 2011 through 2020, the National Fatality Review-Case Reporting System (NFR-CRS) has been used to review nearly 10,000 fatalities that resulted from a firearm. This averages to more than 1,500 deaths each year. Fatality review data offers richness on circumstances and details of these deaths. The newest Quick-Look from the National Center for Fatality Review & Prevention further explores the data from these deaths, including demographics, information on storage of the firearm, and components of the death scene investigation. It is the hope these data better guides preventative measures to prevent further child and youth fatalities. The text below can be used to share this via social media.
