NEW Oregon County Child Fatality Review Team Resources

NEW SIDS Research Grants

Oregon County Child Fatality Review Team Resources
On behalf of the Statewide Child Death Review and Prevention Team, we are excited to share new resources now available to support County Child Fatality Review Teams in accessing medical records.

These resources are intended to lessen the administrative burden on county teams and to support thorough, timely reviews. The following resources are now available:


  *   Medical Records Guidance Sheet - Provides details on the other attached documents and outlines key considerations when requesting records
  *   Medical Records Request Cover Letter - A modifiable template your team can use when making records requests
  *   ODHS and OHA Letter of Support -  Cites Oregon laws permitting release of records for child fatality review
  *   Medical Provider Contact Sheet - Includes up to date contact information for records custodians at major Oregon hospitals and healthcare systems

Research Grants Available

Dear fatality review colleagues,

The American SIDS Institute is accepting Letters of Intent for research grants of up to $80,000 over two years to support studies on sudden unexpected infant death (SUID). Priority is given to proposals aligned with national SUID research priorities identified by the GAPS Project, including work related to death scene investigation, data collection and sharing, biological mechanisms, and prevention-relevant insights. The LOI deadline is March 1, 2026.
