Map Contest Overview

All conference attendees are invited to vote for the best contest entries using a ballot provided at the event. Winners in each category will receive a prize, with past prizes including $50 REI gift certificates. Second-place prizes may also be awarded, depending on the number of participants in each category.

For the Student category, entries will be judged exclusively against other student submissions.

Categories for Submission
Participants can submit maps in one of the following five categories:

  1.  Analytic Presentation: Demonstrates meaningful patterns and insights from data.
  2.  Cartographic: Showcases the quality of visual design and display.
  3.  Data Integration: Combines data from multiple sources effectively.
  4.  Web Applications: Includes StoryMaps, ArcGIS Online, Tableau, Mapbox, Power BI, or other web-based tools.
  5.  Student: Open to individuals currently enrolled in a degree or certificate program.

Submission Guidelines

  *   Deadline: Entries must be submitted by Friday, March 21, 2025.
  *   Formats: Submissions can be hardcopy maps, digital maps, and/or web applications.
  *   Hardcopy Requirements: Physical maps must not exceed 4 ft by 6 ft (4'x6') to fit on the display board.

Lightning Talk Opportunity
Participants will have the chance to present and explain their maps during a lightning talk session. Each presentation will last 3-7 minutes, with the exact time allotted depending on the number of presenters. This is a great opportunity to share insights and showcase your work with fellow attendees.
