PCC Geography Department is hiring a Geospatial Lab Coordinator!  Please share it widely.

Nature & Scope of Work: The Geospatial Lab Coordinator is responsible for providing coordination and support to faculty and students within the Geospatial Programs, including GIS (Geographic Information System), Geomatics, and UAS (Unoccupied Aerial Systems). The incumbent assists with marketing the GIS program to prospective students, supporting student labs, maintaining lab equipment, and leading casual and student staff. Incumbents work independently and proactively to initiate appropriate activities that will lead to the accomplishment of program goals.

Principal Accountabilities (Includes some of all of the following)

  *   Creates and maintains centralized repositories for Geospatial data, tutorials and other resources.
  *   Oversees and maintains the program equipment hardware and software; communicates with IT on software upgrades and new hardware installations in the labs; trouble-shoots remote access between students and IT help desk; identifies and maintains essential program specific software and programs.
  *   Collaborates with faculty to develop, test, and update labs. Maintain lab materials in D2L Brightspace.
  *   Provides technology demonstrations for classroom students in the field and lab, including how to safely operate, update, store student equipment including drones, laptops, tablets, and others.
  *   Coordinates student field internships and/or employment experiences.
  *   Purchases and oversees inventory of lab supplies, equipment, and drones. Maintain GPS units and other geospatial equipment.
  *   Assists with developing marketing materials, and design and delivers presentations for assigned programs.
  *   Coordinates with other departments to identify resources for students and other departments regarding location for using equipment (e.g., drones).
  *   Directs the work of casual and student staff. Participates in screening and interview/selection processes, performance evaluations and counseling. Coordinates staff schedules.
  *   Participates in reporting, compliance and accreditation responsibilities of the Geospatial Programs.
  *   Perform other related duties as assigned.
