Greetings Hazards FIT partners—
I am reaching out to you with a few pieces of information about the Hazards FIT.
The first is that the lead for this FIT, Ed Flick, has, unfortunately stepped down from the position. As such, I am seeking nominations for a new lead. Please send me your nominee’s name, organization, contact info, and brief description of past work in the Hazards FIT and reasons why this person would make a good leader for the group, or if you’d like to provide your nominee anonymously, you are welcome to shuttle or mail the information to me. Please keep in mind that my preference is to have some information about who is providing the nominee so that I can seek more information if necessary.
Secondly, you may have heard about the 2018 Framework Data Inventory and Assessment survey that opened on February 15 and was developed with the help of the FIT leads. There are 18 data elements under the Hazards FIT that up for evaluation. (see attached spreadsheet)
I am seeking your help in completing the survey for the 18 data elements. The survey is designed to be filled out once for each data element. It takes 20 – 40 minutes to complete the survey in most cases, but the actual time varies depending on the information you have at hand about each data element that you evaluate. The Survey Questions, Responses, and Clarifying Language<http://www.oregon.gov/geo/FIT%20Documents/FDIA-Questions-Clarifying-Language.pdf> document on the GEO Framework webpage provides an overview of the survey and a complete list of the questions and responses. The purposes of the survey are to evaluate the following:
1. Membership in Oregon’s Framework
2. Individual data element theme placement
3. Individual data element activity status
4. Individual data element maturity
Please review the attached list and let me know if you can take responsibility for evaluating one or more of the data elements OR if you have current contact information for someone else who would be the right person to evaluate the data element. Also desired are reviewers of the survey responses, to increase the quality of the survey responses collected. These are people who are knowledgeable about the Hazards FIT data as well, and could be done in a group setting.
The collected survey information will be used for a variety of applications, including helping the Oregon Geographic Information Council to design the funding mechanism for ORS 276A and to develop the Council’s strategic plan.
I’m sure that you have questions about all of this, so I’ve put together a Doodle to hold a meeting (online or in-person) in the next few weeks. Please take a moment to provide your input. https://doodle.com/poll/2smfmkn4899rd28c
Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions that you have in the meantime.
Best,
Theresa
