Dear Public Health Staff and Partners,

Resending as the wrong link was provided in an earlier e-mail. A draft of the Public Health Division Strategic Plan is now available for public comment at
http://public.health.oregon.gov/ProviderPartnerResources/PublicHealthAccreditation/Pages/StrategicPlan.aspx

We invite your feedback through September 21, 2012.

The Plan is intended to lay out a concrete vision to achieve sustained and measurable improvements in population health in Oregon over the next three to five years. Through the plan, the Oregon Public Health Division will work to promote health and prevent the leading causes of death, disease and injury in Oregon by reducing tobacco use, obesity, suicides, heart disease and stroke, family violence, and helping communities be prepared for emergencies. The plan builds on the strengths of the Division in the areas of epidemiology, maternal and child health, and environmental health. It blends these strengths with opportunities to work with the broader public health system as well as partners in transportation, health care, education, housing, and the private sector to implement community and clinical interventions.

The strategic plan focuses on complex challenges that impact all our communities. It is the product of active conversations and collaboration of Divisional staff, local health department leadership and partners. Your involvement in the creation of this draft plan was critical, and we would appreciate feedback as we work to finalize the plan. The Public Health Leadership Team looks forward continuing this collaboration as we plan and implement the strategies outlined in the document.

Thank you for your support of this project, and of public health in Oregon.
