[HealthyTribes] Caution: Errors in 2013 OHT Reports

Dear County Coordinators,

Some of you may be aware that reports were recently posted for the 2013 Oregon Healthy Teens Survey (OHT). Unfortunately, analytic errors have just been identified which may affect tables of interest to you.

The reports will be corrected and reposted in the next several weeks, but until then, please do not use data from the tables listed in the forwarded email below. The reports will remain posted in the meantime, at this location:

Subject: Reanalysis of multiple response questions on OHT reports

Dear all,

It has recently been brought to our attention that the denominators for the following multiple response questions in the OHT reports incorrectly include the missings and are instead based on all respondents:
*                                             Table 19:     In the past 12 months, have you visited an emergency room or urgent are clinic for a physical or mental health care need?
*                                             Table 33:     In the past year, were you ever injured in your mouth area while playing sports?
*                                             Table 34:     During the past 12 months, did you miss one or more hours of school due to any of the following reasons?
*                                             Table 77:     During the past 30 days, have you ever been harassed at school (or on the way to or from school) in relation to any of the following issues?
*                                             Table 78:     This is an activity that some youth participate in to get a high by cutting off blood and oxygen to the brain using a variety of methods. Which of the following is true for you?
*                                             Table 81:     Gambling involves betting anything of value (money, a watch, soda, etc.) on a game or event. Please check ALL the different types of gambling that you have bet on, if any, during the last 30 days.
*                                             Table 116:   During the past 30 days, from which of the following sources did you get tobacco (cigarettes, chew, cigars, or any other tobacco product)?
*                                             Table 119:   During the past 7 days when you were riding in a car with someone who was smoking cigarettes, who was smoking cigarettes?


We are working with our contractor to make the correction and anticipate having revised reports available in early January. We will be sending an email today to district, schools, health departments and prevention coordinators notifying them that the reports will be reissued.
