Subject: Fit and Strong! training offered through CTUIR
Hello Coordinators,
I'd like to introduce you to an arthritis exercise program called Fit and Strong!, which is being introduced to Oregon.
Fit and Strong! is a low-cost, evidence-based, multiple component exercise program. It combines flexibility, strength training and aerobic walking with health education for sustained behavior change among older adults with lower extremity osteoarthritis (OA).
For more information about Fit and Strong!, visit: http://www.fitandstrong.org/about/about.html
There will be a Fit & Strong Leader Training for Tribes taking place August 15-16 in Pendleton at the Wildhorse Resort and Casino. There is no charge for the training and funding is available for mileage. For more information, please contact Paula Wallis at 541-215-1938 or Turner Goins at 541-609-8075. This training is being offered by the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation in collaboration with OSU College of Public Health and Human Sciences and the Oregon Health Authority, and is open to Oregon Tribes.
Please feel free to contact Paula Wallis, Turner Goins, or myself with any questions and to enroll in this training.
Best,
April
