Please join me in welcoming two new staff to local public health departments.

Misha Peel has recently joined Polk County as the Healthy Communities Coordinator.

Misha is a native Oregonian and graduated from Western Oregon University with a Master's degree in Health Education in 2005. Since that time Misha has worked with Oregon Child Development Coalition, the Polk HALO Program, and several other social services agencies. Misha recently traveled to Costa Rica to improve her Spanish skills and study medicinal plants and ways of sustainable living.

Julia Young-Lorion has recently joined Lincoln County as the TPEP Coordinator.

Julia is a Native Oregonian with a MPH from OSU. Julia has worked in public health initiatives in Lincoln County for about three years, both with Lincoln County Health & Human Services and Samaritan Health Services with previous focus areas being childhood obesity, chronic conditions, oral health, H1N1, School Based Health Centers. Julia is certified in Tomando Control de su Salud, and just completed Living Well leader training in January. Julia is currently hired through June 2013 by Lincoln County to work on TPEP initiatives (1/2 time) and their Community Health Assessment/Community Health Improvement Plan.
