Good Monday morning Tribal TPEP grantees! I am looking forward to talking with you this Wednesday, March 12 in a follow-up call to the "Pregnant Women and Tobacco Use" webinar (see information below). Wednesday's call will provide us an opportunity to discuss the information presented in the webinar and to brainstorm how we can benefit pregnant smokers in our communities.

During the webinar, LaDonna BlueEye presented on the "Native American Action Plan: Addressing Tobacco Abuse Among Pregnant and Post-Partum Women" that she helped developed through the National Partnership to Help Pregnant Smokers Quit. Find this resource and a PDF version of the webinar slideshow on HPCDP Connection, Training and Events page<https://partners.health.oregon.gov/Partners/HPCDPConnection/Training_Events/Pages/TrainingMaterials.aspx>, under "February Required Webinar Materials".

Thank you in advance for preparing for this call by considering these questions in specific relation to the 5C's presented by LaDonna and in general to the ways we can benefit pregnant smokers in our communities:

1. Where are we at/What is currently being done?

2. Where do we want to be/What do we want to accomplish?

3. How can we get there/What steps can we take to get there?

4. How can we help, collaborate, and learn from each other?
The 5C's to reduce smoking among pregnant Native Americans:

1. Collaborate with other organizations.

2. Cultivate cultural competency.

3. Coach providers on working with Native American populations.

4. Care for patients using evidence-based practices.

5. Communicate cessation messages through multiple media.
I look forward to talking with you all soon!

Best regards,
