Just over one year ago, Jackie Giron presented on an NNN TA webinar called Engaging Tribes to Increase Tobacco Taxes.  This year, Jackie is returning to present with Stephanie Jay on the process that Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa underwent in developing and implementing a tobacco users fee, or tobacco tax.  The Turtle Mountain Band began administering the tribal tobacco tax (users fee) on May 1, 2014.  Please join us to learn more about the process of developing, passing, and implementing a local tribal-administered tobacco tax.


Learning Objectives:
1.     Identify at least two proven benefits of raising tribal tobacco taxes
2.     Differentiate between local and state administered tribal tobacco taxation
3.     Understand the processes that one Tribe took to develop and implement a users fee, or tobacco tax
