Hello Public Health Partners -
I previously shared about the Public Health Division's involvement in the update of Oregon's Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan. This is the key policy framework for Oregon, to promote walkable and bikable communities - and it's getting its first comprehensive update in 20 years! I hope some of you were able/will be able to make it to the listening sessions.
For those who did not or cannot attend a session, there is an online option to learn more and an interactive way to share your local perspective - it's quick and easy. See link in red below to do so.
Thank you!
Get Involved
The Oregon Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan is the policy plan for biking and walking modes for the whole state. It is a mode plan that becomes part of the Oregon Transportation Plan when the Oregon Transportation Commission adopts it. It is very important that the Plan reflects all of Oregon and helps inform all of Oregon's local transportation plans. Oregonians are invited to be involved in the Bike-Ped Plan development through this website and events listed here.
Sign up for the Interested Parties List<https://public.govdelivery.com/accounts/ORDOT/subscriber/new?topic_id=ORDOT_203> to be informed when new information is posted on the Plan website.
You are welcome to submit comments<mailto:ORBikePedPlan at odot.state.or.us> on the developing Plan throughout the update project.
Upcoming Events
The Oregon Department of Transportation is hosting a series of Listening Meeting Workshops to hear from you on key policy issues that relate to walking and biking in Oregon. At the workshops, we will ask specific questions related to critical destinations, connectivity, and safety that will help inform policy development for the Oregon Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan (OBPP). The workshop will include an introductory presentation of the OBPP, highlight opportunities and challenges learned to date, and then break into table discussions. Please plan to attend the full workshop.
