Dear Colleagues,
It is with great pleasure that we share with you Oregon's Title V MCH Block Grant priorities for the next 5 year cycle. As you may know, we have been engaged in an extensive needs assessment over the past 20 months or so. What we learned has greatly informed our understanding of Oregon's maternal and child health landscape and helped us prioritize our work for the next 5 years.
Per the Federal Guidance, we had to select a minimum of 8 out of 15 pre-determined national priority areas with the caveat that we have at least one in each of the 6 federally determined population domains. In addition, we were required to select 3-5 state specific priority areas of our choosing. Both selections were based on the needs assessment and stakeholder input.
Our priority areas for Oregon's Title V Program (2016-2021) are as follows:
National
Well women visits
Breastfeeding
Physical Activity for children
Adolescent well visits
Medical home for children and youth with special health needs
Transition into adulthood for children and youth with special health needs
Oral health
Smoking prevention
State
Toxic stress and trauma
Nutrition and food security
Culturally and linguistically responsive services
Attached is a table that shows the priority area, the measure that will be used for that area, and how it maps to the Public Health Division strategic plan, the State Health Improvement Plan and CCO metrics.
We are posting these priorities<http://public.health.oregon.gov/HealthyPeopleFamilies/DataReports/MCHTitleV/Pages/index.aspx> for a 2 week public comment period, as required by the guidance. Please share with your colleagues, partners and staff as this is our Title V map moving forward.
Please let us know if you have questions. Thank you so much for your continued support of Oregon's Title V Maternal and Child Health work!
Best,
Cate Wilcox
