Good afternoon, tribal TPEP -

Attached please find an additional media resource for February.

As you are likely aware, the tobacco industry has been running court-ordered "corrective statement" advertisements in newspaper and on television and will continue to do so through 2018. These ads are an opportunity for earned media. The TV ads are running in waves, one for each topic area. This Sunday, February 4, ads began on the industry's efforts to make cigarettes as addictive as possible.

I have attached a media pitch template for tribal TPEP Coordinators to use if you would like to tailor this story to your own community through including examples of your tobacco prevention work. This pitch can be sent to local media outlets - radio stations, newspapers, or others you may know of - to generate media interest in the story. The goal is local stories that may feel more relevant to the community than national coverage of the issue.

Smokefree Oregon will run several corrective statement Facebook posts this month if you would like to share those on your own social media platforms.
