Dear Alcohol and Drug Prevention Partners,

The Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention (HPCDP) section at OHA will be holding two training webinars for the upcoming Tobacco and Alcohol Retail Assessment. Thank you again to those who worked with us to hone and finalize the survey tool (attached). The tobacco and alcohol retail assessment aims to gather statewide point-of-sale data at tobacco and alcohol retailers. The widespread availability of tobacco and alcohol products and the visibility of tobacco, alcohol and sugary drink marketing at point-of-sale remain a significant public health concern, particularly in low socio-economic communities or neighborhoods with higher density of communities of color. Tribal partners are invited to join to learn more about the retail assessment process, but participation is entirely voluntary.

The assessment will take place starting in April 2018. All information collected is due to HPCDP no later than November 10, 2018.

The training webinars are required for all who will be collecting data, including volunteers. During the webinar, we will cover the following:

- The purpose and scope of the retail assessment
- How to use survey tool
- Requirements for submitting data

The same content will be presented at both webinars. Note that the these webinars will cover only core questions from the survey tool. HPCDP will hold a separate webinar in late March (TBD) for counties that are interested in including optional questions. Please review the survey tool and determine if your county will be including optional questions.
