As you know, people with mental health conditions and substance abuse disorders disproportionally use tobacco and are more likely to die from tobacco-caused diseases than from behavioral health conditions. Both tobacco use and the associated health problems are an economic burden on these populations, which are already economically disadvantaged compared to other groups. This CDC Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report article (link below) assesses tobacco use treatment and supporting policies at both mental health and substance abuse treatment facilities in the U.S., with breakdowns by state.
