As traditional cigarette use among youth has declined, e-cigarette use has steadily increased. According to the 2018 Monitoring the Future survey, 21 percent of 12th graders reported vaping nicotine during the past 30 days. That is double the rate of reported use in 2017. Similar increases were seen in kids as young as sixth grade. Strategies to combat youth e-cigarette use must occur on multiple levels, within multiple sectors, including the federal government, states and communities, and families.

SAMHSA's "Multi-Level Prevention Strategies to Address Teen E-Cigarette Use" webinar will include the latest data trends related to teen e-cigarette use, challenges in prevention, evidence-based tools and resources, and strategies for curbing e-cigarette use among youth.

Confirmed speakers include:

  * David Lamont Wilson, National Prevention Week 2019 Coordinator, SAMHSA (moderator)
  * John O'Donnell, M.A., Acting Synar Lead, Public Health Advisor, Center for Substance Abuse Prevention, Division of State Programs, SAMHSA
