[HealthyTribes] Retail Assessment Results - Programs interested in media planning

Good morning, Tribal and County TPEP Coordinators, Prevention Coordinators, and RHEC partners.

In the last round of RSN calls, we discussed the upcoming release of the Tobacco and Alcohol Retail Assessment report. I requested volunteers for TPEP, ADPEP, and RHEC grantees that would be interested in working with our Smokefree Oregon media contractor on garnering earned media around the report's release. This would include developing a strategic communications plan for the report, working on customized media outreach, and holding an event around the report's release. All activities with our contractor would need to take place in spring 2019.

Below, I've listed the programs that expressed interest in doing earned media around either the tobacco or alcohol results. If you're interested in joining the list (or you're on there in error), please let me know by this Friday, March 1 so we can start planning!

On the RSN calls, many programs had questions about whether they could see the data before committing to an event. Initial tobacco assessment results are available on your county tobacco fact sheets on SmokefreeOregon.com. We can provide some additional data insights during the planning process, but strategic communications planning would need to begin before the final formatted report is in hand. I don't anticipate this will be an issue since many programs have been planning for the assessment results already, and we already know broadly what the results will show from past assessments and your observations last year. We would, of course, make sure the report and programs were fully ready before any media outreach.

Thanks again for the enthusiasm I heard from many programs on the RSN calls. We're looking forward to sharing the assessment results (and the work you all put into them) far and wide. All questions welcome.
