Good afternoon Tribal TPEP,

May has finally arrived. We are looking forward to the weather being nicer. Below are a list of resources, updates and links around what is happening locally and nationally.

New Oregon Tobacco Quit Line Fax Referral Forms: The Oregon Tobacco Quit Line fax referral forms, used by health care professionals to refer patients to the Quit Line, have been updated. Forms include English, Spanish, and verbal consent versions in MS Word and as PDFs with the verbal consent form also available as a fillable PDF. Forms will be posted on SmokeFree Oregon and on the OHA website soon. Changes include more prominent positioning of HIPAA confirmation and a "notes" area (for example, providers or pharmacists can indicate quit medications prescribed during the visit, dose, etc.). Please note that older forms are still acceptable to initiate referrals. Please share with health care partners

Smokefree Oregon is on Instagram - your following requested!: Over time, Facebook's audience has shifted away from the diverse, active, and engaged audience that's key for supporting commercial tobacco-free environments and healthier retail spaces. Resources on FDA's decision on banning menthol and little cigar flavors: Last week, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced that it would move to prohibit menthol flavoring in cigarettes and flavors in little cigars. This is a momentous step toward preventing tobacco addiction and death, particularly for communities and color and young people.
