Subject: INFORMATION: New HPCDP Section Manager

Dear LPH Administrators and LPH Officers,

The Center for Prevention and Health Promotion of the OHA Public Health Division is pleased to announce the hiring of a new section manager for the Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention Section (HPCDP). Tameka Brazile Miles, currently the chronic disease prevention and health promotion director for Multnomah County, has accepted the HPCDP Section manager position.

Tameka brings a rich portfolio of experience to our Public Health Division family. She has a master's degree in business administration/management from Concordia University and has been a public health leader in Oregon since 2005. She initially worked as the Healthy Birth Initiative Program coordinator at Multnomah County and then later as the senior program development specialist for equity, planning and strategy. Subsequently, Tameka served as the Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (REACH) Program manager and most recently as the chronic disease director for Multnomah County. Tameka's depth of experience working with those most impacted by chronic disease and her transformative organizational management experience will deepen HPCDP's commitment to anti-racism and eliminating the root causes of chronic disease disparities.

We are excited to have Tameka join the leadership team for the Public Health Division's Center for Prevention and Health Promotion. Tameka's first day will be Jan. 30, 2023. Please join us in welcoming Tameka, supporting her in this new role, and ringing in the new year and the next chapter for HPCDP and chronic disease prevention in Oregon.

We are especially grateful to Tatiana Dierwechter for graciously serving as interim section manager for two and a half years. We are excited Tatiana will continue her work with the Center as she transfers back to her role as the Alcohol and Other Drug Integration manager.

Tim
