EDUCATION DEPARTMENT POSTS OREGON HISTORY RESOURCES
To celebrate our state*s 150th birthday, the Oregon Department of
Education has created a website with lesson plans on Oregon history,
civics and geography. The site includes curriculum, lesson plans and
classroom resources.
Among the classroom resources are links to documents from the 1959
Oregon Centennial, an Oregon student atlas, a service-learning guide for
Take Care of Oregon, two Teaching American History Project sites in
Oregon and the department's own history page.

PRESERVATION TECHNICAL SERVICE HAS NEW WEB ADDRESS
Technical Preservation Services, which is part of the National Park
Service, has a new web address at www.nps.gov/history/hps/tps
Among the items available on the site are the Secretary of the
Interiors standards for historic preservation, guidance on planning
successful rehabilitations, the Preservation Briefs and Preservation
Tech Notes publications, an online learning program and other
information.
SALEM SEEKS PLANNER
The City of Salem has posted a senior planner position opening and it
is hoping to attract candidates with special expertise in historic

TOURISM TOWN HALL POSTPONED
Due to the uncertain weather conditions, the Eastern Oregon Visitors
Association executive committee is postponing the tourism town hall
previously scheduled for Dec. 18 in La Grande. It will attempt to
re-schedule the session in 2009.
