The October 21 and 22 State Advisory Committee on Historic Preservation (SACHP) meeting has been postponed until further notice. Resources included in State of Oregon Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Action Plan

Oregon Heritage staff is in the process of reviewing and integrating the State of Oregon Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Action Plan<https://www.oregon.gov/das/Docs/DEI_Action_Plan_2021.pdf>. The plan includes a few resources that we thought would be of interest to heritage organizations:

NEH Preservation Assistance Grants due Jan. 13

NEH Preservation Assistance Grants (PAG) help small and mid-sized institutions—such as libraries, museums, historical societies, archival repositories, cultural organizations, town, city, and county records offices, and colleges and universities—improve their ability to preserve and care for their significant humanities collections.

Humanities collections may include special collections of books and journals, archives and manuscripts, prints and photographs, moving images, sound recordings, architectural and cartographic records, decorative and fine art objects, textiles, archaeological and ethnographic artifacts, furniture, historical objects, and digital materials.

DEADLINE: January 13, 2022
Award Amount: Up to $10,000 ($15,000 for projects related to the “A More Perfect Union” initiative)

Eligible Activities for NEH PAG Grants include:
- General Preservation Assessments
- Consultations with preservation professionals to address a specific issue, need, or problem.
- Purchase of storage furniture and preservation supplies
- Purchase of environmental monitoring equipment
- Preservation education and training
- Certain preservation activities in federally-declared disaster areas

National Trust for Historic Preservation seeks Letter of Intent for America’s Most Endangered Places list

Since 1988, the National Trust has used its list of America's 11 Most Endangered Historic Places<http://us.e-activist.com/page/email/click/10028/1019291?email=DheinyePr9pVzTNxl0rcdsS5Hda7Kfnj&campid=X%2BI2NXledwyZkArzVWMSmA==> to raise awareness about the threats facing some of our nation's greatest treasures. The list, which has identified more than 300 sites to date<http://us.e-activist.com/page/email/click/10028/1019292?email=DheinyePr9pVzTNxl0rcdsS5Hda7Kfnj&campid=X%2BI2NXledwyZkArzVWMSmA==>, has been so successful in galvanizing preservation efforts that less than five percent of these sites have been lost.

If you know of an important site in your community that could benefit from the national spotlight that only the 11 Most Endangered Historic Places program can deliver, submit your LOI today!

LOIs will be accepted until Friday, November 12, at 11:59 p.m. ET. After reviewing the LOIs, a select number of sites will be invited to submit full nominations in early December.

Business Oregon Receives Federal Grant to Support an Economic Recovery Plan for Oregon

To accompany Oregon’s 10-Point Economic Recovery Plan<https://t.e2ma.net/click/96mwrh/pv851c/xphft7b> released by Governor Kate Brown, Business Oregon is creating a statewide Economic Recovery Plan, which will emphasize assisting those most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly Oregon’s underrepresented businesses, communities, and organizations. Business Oregon will analyze the areas of Oregon’s economy that have been most negatively impacted by the pandemic, while taking into consideration both region and industry. The effort will be supported by state funds paired with a $177,600 grant from the federal Economic Development Administration.

The plan will identify existing economic development programs that may best mitigate those impacts, and propose new programs to fill the gaps or better meet needs. The programs identified must promote growth and address unmet recovery needs in equitable ways, particularly within those communities most impacted by the pandemic and those under-resourced to begin with. The plan will help identify metrics to track needs and impact, and provide an overall roadmap for the state to build back better and recover from the economic impacts from the pandemic.

Business Oregon expects to have a final plan produced by February 2022.
