State Advisory Committee on Historic Preservation (SACHP) Seeks to Fill Open Positions
The State Advisory Committee on Historic Preservation (SACHP) is a governor-appointed body of volunteers from across Oregon who guide the state's efforts to recognize and protect historic places. The SACHP reviews nominations to the National Register of Historic Places<https://www.oregon.gov/oprd/oh/pages/national-register.aspx> and advises the Oregon State Historic Preservation Office on preservation priorities and policies.
The committee is housed within Oregon Heritage of the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. Oregon Heritage, which includes the State Historic Preservation Office, supports the documentation, preservation, and interpretation of Oregon's cultural resources, including historic buildings, archaeological sites, cultural landscapes, and more.
Criteria/Skills/Expertise/Perspectives:
The SACHP has current or upcoming openings for volunteers with professional expertise in historic preservation and related disciplines. We are specifically seeking individuals who represent the following regions or perspectives:

  *   Eastern Oregon
  *   Southern Oregon
To round out the current skillsets represented by the committee, volunteers with expertise in architectural history, public history, museum management, historic architecture, and/or landscape architecture are especially encouraged to apply.
Primary Responsibilities:
Committee members are responsible for reviewing and recommending nominations to the National Register of Historic Places<https://www.oregon.gov/oprd/oh/pages/national-register.aspx>. They also approve funding for two key grant programs<https://www.oregon.gov/oprd/OH/Pages/Grants.aspx> operated by Oregon Heritage, the Preserving Oregon Grant and the Diamonds in the Rough Grant. These responsibilities help promote the recognition, protection, and revitalization of Oregon's historic places.
Meeting Schedule and Engagement:
The SACHP meets three times per year in various regions across the state. Each meeting includes formal review sessions, guest presentations or technical trainings, and guided tours of local historic sites, which offer members a unique opportunity to explore Oregon's heritage while engaging with communities statewide.
