Applications now open to request Mentor assistance with heritage projects
MentorCorps is a free program pairing volunteers with skills and abilities in heritage fields with Oregon-based museums, libraries, archives, and cultural institutions who need project assistance. The program provides guides-on-the-side who can walk you through organizational challenges to come out better prepared to tackle the future. While mentors don't do the work for you, they'll support your organization accomplishing the project while building your skills and confidence along the way.
What Mentors can provide:

  * 9 months of one-on-one support from October 2025 through June 2026 on a priority project for your organization
  * Guidance and resources to build your organization's skills at your pace
  * A wide suite of expertise: prioritization, processes & core documents review, collections, archives, nonprofit governance, grants planning & review, disaster planning, exhibits & interpretation, and more
  * A nonjudgmental approach toward improving practices in your organization
Don't know what is a priority or how to prioritize your to-do list? We can help with that too!
Requirements for organizations:

  * Be an organization or municipality actively engaged in heritage work in Oregon
  * Have a staff member or volunteer available to work with the Mentor throughout the 9-month mentorship
  * Have approval of the organization's board of directors for the MentorCorps project and application prior to applying
  * Submit a final evaluation at the end of June 2026
