Hi All,
Please consider applying for this. You can use it for the Association for Gravestone Studies conference next June or other trainings and classes.

The new deadline for the 2011 Elisabeth Potter Historic Preservation Advocacy and Education Awards is Wednesday, June 15. Information and application form can be downloaded from www.oregonheritage.org ( http://www.oregonheritage.org/ ), or directly as a PDF here http://www.oregon.gov/OPRD/HCD/docs/EWP_2011_app.pdf. Applicants can use the old form which shows May 31 as the deadline; a revised form is being posted later today.
We encourage all types of historic preservationists to apply--craftspeople who need training for preservation projects in their community, "Main Street" pro-active participants, historic cemetery organization members, tribal members, archaeologists, city and county planners involved in preservation issues, landmarks commission members and others who are dedicated to local historic preservation-related initiatives.
These travel funding awards are designed to assist successful applicants in their efforts to attend a conference, seminar or workshop focusing on an area of historic preservation advocacy and education that can be of significant benefit to their local community.
The awards can cover expenses related to airfare, lodging, meals and conference registration fees. The amount of each award will be determined by a review committee so no budget is required as part of the application; however, applicants are expected to write a compelling reason for why a particular gathering will help them to participate in a meaningful way to historic preservation-related projects in their hometown, county or region of Oregon.
Applications can be submitted via email before the deadline date as long as a hard copy is also mailed afterward with applicant's signature. Letters of recommendation are not required although in certain cases (e.g., a historic preservation trades person needs very particular training to assist in a rehabilitation or renovation building project, such a letter can help the review committee in assessing the applicant's and community's needs.)
Conferences, workshops and seminars must be in the U.S., and take place between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012. Google searches can yield information on upcoming gatherings; in the application applicants should cite the one that best fits their needs. The SHPO will approve these selections and in some cases, refer applicants to more appropriate choices.
Questions? Contact me using the information below. Applications must be received before 5 p.m., June 15, and sent to the address below as well.
